Mission: LaCasa works with individuals and community partners to create opportunity for personal growth, family stability and neighborhood improvement.
LaCasa is a community development corporation with 35 years of experience in Elkhart County, implementing grant resources and partnering with a caring community to create attractive and economically stable neighborhoods. LaCasa is a member of the National NeighborWorks Network, a HUD Certified Agency and a United Way Agency.
LaCasa's Neighborhood Development strategies include: leadership development, repair of homes and new home construction. A staff of 30 provides services to low and moderate income individuals of all backgrounds. Services include: rental and homeownership programs, financial fitness, credit repair, budgeting and home buyer classes, mortgage products, home selection assistance, post purchase counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling, along with Individual Development Savings Accounts and Immigration Services. All services are provided by staff with a high level of cultural awareness, bi-lingual language proficiency in Spanish and English and expertise in their program areas.

Dick Lehman's pottery at the Old Bag Factory serves the community by producing hand-made pottery pieces that are used for employee gifts (gifts of recognition, accomplishment, and holiday gifts), and for business-promotion purposes. Museum-quality pieces are available for retirement gifts, or in recognition of major-donors. Board of Director's service, and significant achievement. (Customization using business logos may be possible with some pieces.) Dick's studio is a fully-functioning studio with 1400 square feet of retail space, and a visitor-accessible production studio. Customers many observe the pottery being made, and also make purchases from 3000 finished pieces: the finished pieces represent a 100-item production line, and a gallery with one-of-a kind exhibition and museum-quality works.
